Step 7 - Transfer
Step 8 - Relax
  • Step 1 - Unpack

Take everything out of the box - you should find the bean bag cover(s) you ordered and a filling bag, each packed in their own plastic bags. Open all the packages to get started.

Top tip: Many bean bags come in multiple boxes, check each one to find which contains the cover and filling bag.
  • Step 2 - Insert

Remove the plastic bag of filling from the box. Take your white filling bag and ensure the zip on the shortest side is fully closed. Place this closed end into the box, with the widest side of the bag facing upwards.

Top tip: Ask a family member or friend to assist you in filling your new bean bag.
  • Step 3 - Place

Open the zip and gently stretch the fabric over the top of the box until it fits securely.

Top tip: You may need to squeeze the box slightly to help the fabric slide over more easily.
  • Step 4 - Pour

Next, slowly pour the beans into the filling bag. As you do, keep the plastic bag partially closed to help guide the filling into the box and reduce spills—take your time for a smooth transfer!

Top tip: Shake the box whilst filling to ensure you can fit as much filling into the bag as possible.
  • Step 5 - Remove

Once the filling bag is full, zip up the open end and carefully lift it out of the box. Flip the bag so that the shortest end is at the top and the widest end is at the bottom. Then, unzip the shortest end to prepare for the next step.

Top tip: Don't fully open the zip, it prevents any beans escaping through small gaps!
  • Step 6 - Attach

Take your cover(s) and locate the zip to open the beanbag—this is usually found on the base or back. Carefully pull out the inner filling pocket, making sure its zip is open. Then, align the zips of the filling bag and the beanbag pocket, and zip them together until fully connected.

Top tip: Sometimes the zip may end up slightly open after closure. If you encounter a small gap, you can use the alligator clip we’ve provided to close the space off. This will prevent the possibility of a small amount of filling escaping. For most this wont be necessary.
  • Step 7 - Transfer

Now that the filling bag is connected to the beanbag, gently shake the filling into it. Once emptied, unzip the filling bag and repeat the process until all the beans are transferred. Then, zip the inner pocket closed, tuck it inside, and zip up the outer layer to keep everything secure.

Important: Make sure that the beanbag cover does not lift off the floor when transferring the filling.
Important:Remove the paperclip from the zip — it’s part of a safety feature. Learn more in our FAQs.
  • Step 8 - Relax

Place your beanbag in your preferred spot, adjust it for maximum comfort, then sit back, unwind, and enjoy the cozy support it provides!

Top Tip: Don’t forget to store your filling bag after use. It will come in handy in the future if you wish to wash or top up the cover.

Frequently Asked Questions

My bean bag covers seem to be missing.

Covers can sometime slip during transit. We recommend checking down the sides of the box or even at the bottom underneath the filling just in case this has moved. Remember many of our bean bags come in multiple boxes, make sure to check them all.

Where should I assemble my bean bag?

Before filling your bean bag, it is recommended that you use a contained non-carpeted space such as a kitchen that can be easily cleared of any stray beans after your bean bag is filled.

Keep animals and small children out of the room you are filling the bean bag in. Beans are toxic if swallowed! Please ensure you immediately sweep up any stray beads.

Why do we send the bean bags unfilled?

Our bean bags don’t come pre-filled due to a few practical reasons. Their large size and unique shape make them difficult and costly to ship when filled, and many couriers have limitations on bulky items. Shipping them unfilled also makes exchanges or returns much easier and more efficient for everyone involved.

Why does the cover zip have a paper clip attached?

The paper clip is safety feature, its should be removed after filling your bean bag to ensure the bean bag can not be opened by babies and small children.
